AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Aquinas boys soccer team scored three goals in the final eight minutes of regulation to beat Athens Christian 4-2 on Friday night.
The Irish were down 2-1 with less than eight minutes left in the game before a free kick from Clay Mikels tied the game 2-2. Five minutes later Jacob Shaver sent another free kick into the box where Chris Mazurek headed it across the goal. The Athens Christian goalkeeper couldn’t handle the shot, and Eduardo Barquet was there to punch in the game-winning goal with just under three minutes left in the game.
Mazurek would another goal for the Irish just minutes later to cap off the 4-2 region win for Aquinas, their first of the season.
